You were my stepfather for 35 years but I never really got to know you very well. Always the center of attention, you could hold a room with business, banter and bullshit. Your hat collection and associated dialog and props was always a treat to behold! Most of all, I am grateful that you helped my mother, and that she experienced happiness while married to you. I'm grateful for the example you provided. You held your peace in circumstances where others would not. You patience was appreciated and it was needed. Thank you for all you did for the Baker family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Cliff was a classmate of my late husband, James P. McLane. Upon my husband’s passing, Cliff reached out to me concerning my husband’s legacy as an Olympic athlete while at Andover. He was responsible for spearheading an athletic award at Andover in my late husband’s name. We had a monthly telephone call that lasted for three years. Although we have never met in person, I know I was very privileged to have engaged in such delightful conversations. Hats off Cliff. RIP.
